Dean Fujioka was born in Fukushima, Japan. After completing colleage in the US, he travelled to Hong Kong and was discovered by a talent scout to become a model. He made his acting debut in the Hong Kong movie “August Story” and was quickly spotted by Taiwanese TV producer Angie Chai Chi-ping who invited him to play various role in her popular TV series including “Goku Dou High School”, “Corner with Love”, “Miss No Good” and “Just You”. After spending many years in Hong Kong and Taiwan, Dean can speak both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.
In 2013, Dean returned to Japan and joined Amuse. In 2015, he won wide acclaim with his appearance as a Japanese historical figure in the morning drama series “Here Comes Asa” and brought about a fever called “Godai-sama Boom”, the role subsequently earned him Best Supporting Actor in the 9th Tokyo Drama Awards. Dean made impressive appearances in dramas “Please Love The Useless Me” and “May I Blackmail You?”. He recently played the leading role in “The Count of Monte-Cristo: Great Revenge” and won the Best Actor Award in the CONFiDENCE Award Drama Prize.
Dean Fujioka is named “The most perfect male of 30 to 40 years old in Japan” as he also has a successful music career. He released songs that he composed, wrote and produced in his first album “Cycle” in 2016, and has released 4 singles and 2 albums to-date. His recent singles include “History Maker”, theme song of the anime “Yuri!!! on Ice” and “Echo”, theme song of “The Count of Monte-Cristo: Great Revenge”. In 2018, Dean went on his first Japan national tour “History In The Making 2018”, playing 8 shows across 6 cities, amassing over 20,000 audiences to his shows.
